Pineapple Express Mangave

from $94.99

Mangave ‘Pineapple Express,’ a standout hybrid of Agave and Manfreda that’s as bold as it is easy to grow. This eye-catching succulent forms a tight, spiky rosette, reaching 9-10 inches tall and 16-18 inches wide, with long, slender dark green leaves that mimic a pineapple crown. Each 1-inch-wide leaf is adorned with vivid burgundy spots—most striking in full sun—and finished with a waxy, minty-green sheen. Tiny, soft spines line the edges, and a sharp cinnamon-brown tip adds a dramatic flair.

Care Essentials:

• Sun: Loves full sun to bring out its bold spotting—give it at least 6 hours daily. It tolerates partial shade but shines brightest with more light.

• Water: Drought-tolerant and low-fuss, water deeply but sparingly—every 2-3 weeks in summer, letting soil dry out completely between sessions. Reduce watering in winter.

• Soil: Demands well-drained soil—opt for a cactus mix or add sand/perlite to keep roots happy and rot-free.

Ideal for containers, rock gardens, or xeriscape layouts, this fast-growing, deer-resistant perennial thrives in USDA zones 9-11 (protect from frost in cooler climates). After a few years, it may send up a towering spike of lavender-white blooms—a rare treat signaling the rosette’s end, though offsets ensure the legacy continues. Safe to touch but keep pets from chewing the sap, which can irritate.
